PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

IUGB recruits from among the brightest students in West Africa, and to a more limited extent, other parts of Africa. Over the next five years, IUGB will implement a multi-phase recruitment strategy to include :

  • Annual on-campus student recruitment activities for prospective Ivorian students and parents

  • Visits by the IUGB President and Deans to secondary schools to meet with principals, student counselors, and teachers

  • Recruitment materials in both French and English for distribution at school events and academic recruiting fairs and via the IUGB website and other Internet sites

  • Presentations and speeches by Board members, university representatives, and the IUGB's Parent's Council at student gatherings and to parents of prospective students at venues in Côte d'Ivoire and throughout the sub-region

IUGB's Feeder Schools Initiative (FSI) strengthens ties with select local high schools and better prepares potential IUGB candidates for academic English and standardized test-taking and is also an effective recruitment tool.

Fees are assessed to cover books, transportation, library and technology, medical and (optional) room and board. Any cost for required standardized tests are the responsibility of the student.

Financial Aid

A top priority of the Board of Directors is to continue to build the financial aid fund. Currently, the University contributes 2 percent of tuition revenue to this fund. The Board of Directors will target the private sector, the international donor community, foundations, and contributions from individual patrons of IUGB. Student financial aid options include work study, merit-based scholarships and student loans.
