ABOUT IUGB

The International University of Grand Bassam is envisioned as a Regional Center of Excellence that will help educate and train the human capital required for sustained growth and development in West Africa. Graduates of the IUGB will be well prepared to participate and to assume leadership roles in the global society.

The IUGB is a privately governed institution, organized under the laws of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire as a non-profit organization. It operates as an autonomous institution and its non-profit status makes the University eligible for public grants and other funding from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, other countries, international organizations and the private sector.

The University was officially established by Presidential Charter on May 16, 2007 as published in the Official Journal of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire.

A Higher Education Partnership

In 1998, Côte d'Ivoire and Georgia State University signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work on establishing an International University in Côte d'Ivoire modeled on the American style of higher education.
